Thick film deposition methods

By and large, thick films are considered as dispersions, pastes, and inks being conductive, resistive or dielectric; however, for the time being, thick films include a wider group of inorganic and organic materials [1]. In this article, the broad classification of thick-film processes and methods is introduced. Accordingly, the deposition processes can be divided into directed coating techniques, spreading coating techniques, and immersion coating techniques.

a) Directed coating techniques

1- Spray coating

2- Mist coating

3- Aerosol deposition

b) Spreading coating techniques

1- Screen printing

2- Spin coating

3- Doctor blade/tape casting

c) Immersion coating techniques

1- Dip coating

2- Electrophoretic deposition

3- Sedimentation

4- Interfacial polymerization

5- Texturing

In the following articles, it will be attempted to briefly present the operating procedure of each deposition method [2].
